Eyebrow Microblading Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take?
The procedure generally takes 3 hours, depending on how you want your brows to be completed.   Each client is different and time varies based on the variables.

How often do I need a touch-up?
Touch-ups are recommended every 12 months, to keep the color fresh and the strokes crisp.  Again, this time frame varies with each client.

Does it hurt?
Some people say that they do not feel anything and all, and some people say there is some discomfort associated with the procedure.

Do I need to take time off from work?
No. There’s no downtime associated with the treatment. Redness and swelling will dissipate within an hour after. Your brows will appear darker initially, but not so dark that you will be prevented from your activities of daily living.

How long does it take to heal?
Healing time varies from person to person. Usually, it takes about a week to ten days for the epithelial crust to form and slough off (just like a tattoo). Your skin will be considered healed after that happens. Then, the pigment takes some time to settle into the skin. A good month should pass before we consider the process complete.

What’s the process like?
Microblading is a two step treatment, consisting of an initial procedure and then an initial touch-up after 6 to 8 weeks. After we take your before photo, we shape your eyebrows and decide on the color. Shortly after that, a topical anesthetic will be administered to ensure comfort. Once you’re numb, we will implant the pigment into your epidermis. During healing, it’s normal to experience some pigment loss; this is why we have the touch up in place.

In the days following your appointment...
DO NOT TOUCH your brows for at least 10 days! Touching your brows interrupts the healing process and you will be left with a less than desirable result once your brows have healed. You are also advised to keep the skin clean and dry—that means no swimming, sweating or otherwise getting the area wet; no tanning or prolonged sun exposure; no picking or peeling the tattoo. You can still wash your hair and face and once they’re healed up you treat them as normal.

What are benefits of microblading?
Very natural appearance that will not fade to gray tattoo like color.

How long does microblading treatment lasts?
Each client experiences a different result and therefore we can not guarantee a specific time frame.

Does it look natural?
Yes.  It is designed to mimic natural hair growth.

What is the main difference between semi-permanent makeup and permanent make up?
Permanent makeup uses a machine method that commonly implants the pigment deeper and more aggressively creating more pain and longer healing time.

Microbladed makeup uses a manual tool design for maximum comfort and fast healing.  The pigment is applied with a manual tool that has a fixed small blade with many disposable needles. The needles can be much thinner than those used in machines while the depth of pigment injections does not reach the dermis layer of the skin.

Microblade Brow Preparation

The following steps should be taken in preparation of your microblade appointment:
  • DO NOT work out the day of the procedure
  • DO NOT take Aspirin, Vitamin E or ibuprofen 24 hours before the procedure
  • DO NO drink alcohol or caffeine on the day of the procedure
  • DO NOT wax or tint the area 3 days before
  • DO NOT tan or have sunburned face 3 days before
  • DO NOT get facials, Botox, chemical treatments and microdermabrasion for 4 weeks near the treated area

Please note:  you will be more sensitive during menstrual period.

Microblade Brow After Care

The following steps should be followed after your microblade appointment:
  • NO water, cleansers creams, make up or any other products on treated area for 10 days
  • 4-5 hours after procedure clean the area with sterile water and cotton pad, gauze or Q-tip and allow to air dry
  • DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate off. Picking can cause scarring
  • You may use aquaphor if you experience any itching
  • Avoid heavy sweating for 10 days
  • No facials, Botox, chemical treatments and microdermabrasion for 4 weeks near treated area
  • Avoid sleeping on your face for 10 days

Please note:  Eyebrows will appear darker and bolder due to natural scabbing and healing for the first 10 days. This is very common for all semi and permanent makeup procedures.
